About Environmental Akron

Founded in 2007, Environmental Akron is an eco-friendly student organization at the University of Akron. In lieu of climate change, the focus of the organization is to unite like-minded students to promote awareness of environmental issues on and off-campus.

Working with the Blue, Gold, & Green Committee (composed of administration and faculty), Environmental Akron plays a crucial role in the formalization of an on-campus recycling program. Projects have included recycling at Varsity sporting events and site clean-ups near campus (see Photos). Bi-monthly meetings were held throughout the Fall Semester hosting relevant speakers.

Now with 100+ members, future plans for Environmental Akron include piloting the largest cardboard recycling program ever at UA, a solar stage for 2008 Earth Day on April 16th, and other environmental mobilization. Please join on our quest for a "greener" campus and city.
